Spongy fore deck/cabin roof on a 1995 Baja WB340 happens to mean the balsa wood core has turned to the consistency of peanut butter.
The plywood was routed out as far back as I could reach. Wood was inserted and then 3 tubes of silicone was injected to completely seal the area.
At the end of the year the fore deck will be peeled off and fixed properly.
Since having this issue, I asked someone to tap out the remainder of the hull. The only other questionable area is on the starboard inboard stringer 3 feet forward of the engines and it is 8-16 inched in length. Repairs will commence at the conclusion of the 2019 boating season.
